September 2009 - The Akron Road Runner Marathon was held on a cold and dreary day this year but that didn't deter our three PTA relay teams. Sunny dispositions were abound as the runners each prepared for their leg of the marathon. This year's participants included runners new to the PTA teams and returning runners who have participated many years, some having run on PTA teams for every one of the last nine years. Runners this year were Jeff Cerveny, Mark Gibson, Brandon Kipfer, Pat Klanac, Malia Milec, Tom Myers, Kelly Simko, Patrick Slattery, Dave Tschantz, David Tschantz, Mary Tschantz, Mary Beth Tschantz, Dave Wagar, Mandy Wagar, and Eric Wright. Dave Wagar continued on after his leg of the relay and completed the half marathon.
Taste of the Earth
August 2009 - The firm was a sponsor of the Crown Point “Taste of the Earth” event. This annual dinner and fundraiser benefits the Crown Point Ecology Center. The center is a resource for education in sustainable practices and organic farming. We were happy to be a part of this event where select chefs prepared foods from local/grown organic produce. August 2009 - The fall semester at the University of Akron is underway. As such, we have two new co-operative students joining the PTA team: John Volcansek (ME) and Seth Waddingham (EE). Mercy Medical Center Earns Prestigious Energy Star
July 2009 - Peters, Tschantz, and Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce that the Mercy Medical Center has achieved the prestigious Energy Star. This award is the mark of superior energy performance and identifies the building as one of the most efficient buildings in the nation. This building and those of similar nature will be used by the media and others to highlight our nation’s leaders in energy efficiency. July 2009 - Peters, Tschantz, and Associates, Inc. is proud to announce David Tschantz as a new Corporation Member of The Village Network. Since 1946, The Village Network has specialized in the treatment and care of troubled youth, utilizing various programs that are aimed at providing individualized treatment to meet the needs of youth with emotional and behavioral challenges resulting from physical, emotional or sexual abuse. June 2009 - Jon Jennings joins the ranks of Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED) Accredited Professionals at Peters, Tschantz & Associates, Inc. Jon is an electrical engineering graduate from the University of Akron and has been employed with the firm since 2006. Jon's recent accomplishment brings the total number of LEED AP's at the firm to eleven (11). June 2009 - Peters, Tschantz & Associates, Inc. was pleased to sponsor the Kids are Number One Run benefiting Akron Children's Hospital. Pat Klanac, Mechanical Engineer/Associate, joined by his 8 year old son Robert, participated in the One Mile Run on Sunday, June 7, 2009. Congratulations to Robert, who completed the mile long race in 8:07 minutes. Robert aspires to compete in the competitive race next year. Our Lady of the Elms Fantasy Gala 2009
May 2009 - The new $7.1 million Elizabeth Ann Schaefer, O.P. Performing Arts and Athletic Center at Our Lady of the Elms was opened at the school's fundraising event, Fantasy Gala 2009, held on May 2. The Council of Leaders graciously thanked the work of Doty & Miller Architects, as well as our own David Tschantz and Brian Holloway, among many other companies and individuals that contributed to completing the construction on time and within budget. David and Mary Tschantz attended the event and had the opportunity to tour the facility led by a student from the Junior Core Team, a group of twenty-two young women that were chosen to bring the student's ideas and suggestions to the project. Here we grow again!
May 2009 - Three May 2009 graduates from the University of Akron joined PTA this spring: Brandon Kipfer (EE), Patrick Slattery (EE) and Eric Wright (ME). Brandon and Eric are both familiar faces as they have worked part-time for PTA while attending the University of Akron and recently received LEED accreditation as well. Patrick concentrated on his course work and expedited his electrical engineering degree, finishing in just three years. We look forward to working with these three intelligent and talented engineers. March 2009 - Our relationship with The University of Akron Engineering Department continues to be a success. Currently, PTA has several University of Akron students working in our office including Andrew Gallagher (Mechanical Engineer), Brandon Kipfer (Electrical Engineer), Tim Mirth (Electrical Engineer) and Eric Wright (Mechanical Engineer). We are pleased to announce that Brandon, Eric, and University of Akron student, Patrick Slattery (Electrical Engineer), will be joining our firm full-time upon their graduation in May. Stay tuned as another group of students will be returning in May for the summer term. J.M. Smucker Company Achieves Silver LEED Certification
February 2009 - The J.M. Smucker Company Renewal Building project has achieved the silver level of LEED certification for New Construction. The Renewal Building, located in Orrville, OH, is the home of the employee center, a cafeteria and office space. This is the second LEED certified project for the J.M. Smucker Company as the Company's Store and Café, also in Orrville, achieved LEED certification in June of last year. PTA is proud to have provided MEP engineering design services for both projects. We would like to extend our congratulations to the J.M. Smucker Company, Domokur Architects and all of the firms that contributed to the design and construction of the project. George Buynak Retires After 42 Years
January 2009 - George Buynak, after 42 years of dedicated service to Peters, Tschantz & Associates, Inc. has announced that he will be retiring from full-time employment. However, George continues the tradition of being dedicated to providing outstanding service to his clients and will be designing on a part-time basis for Peters, Tschantz & Associates. December 2008 - Congratulations to Nick Pandrea and Matt Sejba on passing the PE exam taken in October of 2008. Nick is an electrical engineer, educated at the University of Akron, and has been with the firm for 6 years. Matt is a mechanical engineer, educated at the University of Dayton and has been with the firm for 4 years. Smucker Expansion Achieved LEED Certification
September 2008 - The J.M. Smucker Company Store and Café in Orrville, Ohio sells Smucker’s products directly to the public. The store recently underwent an expansion doubling in size. PTA provided the MEP engineering for this expansion. The design and construction met the standards set by the U.S. Green Building Council and was LEED certified earlier this summer. June 2008 - Mechanical Engineer, Matt Sejba, along with his family, participated in the PanCAN walk which was held on June 21, 2008. The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) is the first national patient advocacy organization for the pancreatic cancer community. The walk is held annually to raise money for advanced research of medical breakthroughs in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of the disease. Congratulations to Nick Pandrea

June 2008 – Congratulations to Mike Casseday who holds the credential of a LEED Accredited Professional. May 2008 – The 2008 summer co-op session has begun with Dominic Campriana joining the mechanical department and Timothy Mirth joining the electrical department. Both co-ops are pursuing engineering degrees in their respective disciplines from the University of Akron. Welcome back to Nick Peters and Eric Wright. Kent Marco Kucheman has passed away
February 2008 – Our company's founding father, Kent Marco Kucheman passed away at age 83 after a short illness. Kent leaves behind a loving family and many friends. After graduation from the University of Akron, Kent worked as an estimator for an electrical contractor before becoming involved in design. Consequently, he always stressed the importance of detail and graphical representation in design documents. We are grateful for his many years of leadership, guidance and example. Our company and industry is better because of his values and hard work. Kent made a difference. PTA Names Three Associates
February 2008 – We are pleased to formally introduce our Associates, Michael Casseday, Brian Holloway and Patrick Klanac. Michael Casseday took employment with the consulting engineering firm in January of 1987. Mike has extensive experience in electrical distribution, lighting and systems design for healthcare, education and commercial facilities. Mike is a registerd professional engineer in the State of Ohio and a member of IEEE, NSPE, TriCounty Code Interpretation Committee and IAEI. Brian Holloway has over 23 years experience in the mechanical engineering consulting field, which includes the planning, design, on-site observation and specifications for commercial, healthcare and education facilities. Brian is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Ohio. He is a member of ASHRAE and a past chair of the Student Activities Committee. Patrick Klanac has over 18 years experiece as a mechanical engineer involved in the planning design and specification of mechanical systems for healthcare, laboratory, cultural arts, commercial/office, educational and data centers. Pat is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Ohio and 17 other states, and maintains NCEES certification. Pat is a member of ASHRAE, is the past President of American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Ohio (Cleveland Region) and served on the ACEC Ohio Board of Directors in 2003 and 2004. January 2008 – Caleb Kuzman (Electrical Engineering), Tom Myers (Mechanical Engineering) and Mark Howell (Mechanical Engineering) join us in early January as they begin their second co-op tours with Peters, Tschantz & Associates, Inc. PTA welcomes two new members to the team

April 2007 - Dave Tschantz was honored this month with the Distinguished Alumni Award from The University of Akron College of Engineering. Dave was recognized not only for his professional contributions to the engineering and construction community but also for his service to the university and to the community of Northeast Ohio. The award was presented at the annual breakfast for Distinguished Engineering Alumni held at the Martin University Center. PTA team members participate in Marathon team relay

May 2007 – Caleb Kuzman (Electrical Engineering) and Tom Myers (Mechanical Engineering) from the University of Akron and Nick Peters (Electrical Engineering) from The University of Dayton began their first co-op tours. August 2007 – The third annual golf outing held on the 17th of August was a rousing success. The victorious team included Mike Svasta, Dave Hernandez, Chuck Blackburn and Kristy Istvan. A good time was had by all. Students join PTA for third co-op tour
