This 28,000 square foot renovation began in May of 2018 and concluded a year later. The project was a renovation to the first floor of what was once the BF Goodrich tire plant. The space features an eSports lab, a makerspace and creative workshop, conference rooms, event space, a commercial café and more, with locally created furnishings throughout. PTA worked with Akron Energy Systems (owners of the district steam and chilled water), the city of Akron, Bounce, and many others to study the feasibility, constructability, and energy savings. All work and master planning for the central plant was developed in a scalable fashion, ensuring that the system can accommodate future renovations of the upper eight stories of the building.
