The Bridgestone Akron Data Center is home to the company’s core IT systems. This project involved the renovation of an existing 10,000 square foot data center, consisting of complete electrical and mechanical services replacement while maintaining the critical data center load. The electrical system is 2N, Tier III redundant, and 3.5 MW with an IT hosting capacity of up to 1,500 kW. The standby generator system is 2N, Tier III redundant, and 2.5 MW with medium voltage transfer switches. The mechanical system is N+1 with 1,200 tons of Kyoto cooling units for the data center space, and N+1 with 200 tons of cooling units for the associated electrical rooms. PTA Engineering provided project leadership for the Master Planning, Design, Bidding, Construction Administration and Commissioning phases of the renovation. The data center remained fully operational throughout construction.
