The Fine Arts building addition and renovation project for Kent State University Stark Campus included a 16,000 square foot addition and 18,000 square feet of renovations. The new addition is primarily made up of music classrooms, practice rehearsal rooms, and an art gallery. This required significant coordination efforts and acoustical considerations due to the existing building’s limitations and use of the space. HVAC for the renovated areas was provided via existing air handling units within the facility. The terminal air distribution system was reworked to accommodate new heating/cooling/ventilation loads. The new addition is served from an existing (re-purposed) air handling unit.
