Anatomy Specimen Storage Facility Renovation

Project Details

The 50 dissection table anatomy lab renovation for the University of Toledo’s Neuroscience Department included the renovation of the existing surgical biology lab and other miscellaneous research labs (16,000 square feet). Existing HVAC and electrical capacities were reviewed and field checked to confirm adequate capacity existed to support the new renovation. A new, 100 body cadaver storage cooler was added for body preservation before and after the embalming process. A new exhaust air distribution system was designed to capture air flow at the floor to prevent harmful gases from reaching the breathing zone of the researchers, faculty and students. Energy conservation measures were incorporated to modulate the ventilation and lighting with occupancy. The project cost was $2 million.
